Our move to Providence was not without anxiety. Although we have been actively engaged in rocketry since August of 2010, we were, in effect, starting over. The welcome that we have received here was unexpected and, frankly, fills us with emotion. The tip jar incident solidified this affection we have for our new city. When we tweeted the news of the theft, many responses were received which more or less stated, “Well, that’s Providence.” We disagree. The random act of kindness more accurately captures the spirit of Providence. There are bad apples in every bushel, but you don’t make pie with bad apples. You make pie with the good ones.
Speaking of good apples, we wish to thank Peter Gobin at Mijos Tacos. He has been especially helpful to the rocket in setting up operations here in Providence. In addition to being a good apple, his authentic LA style tacos are just spectacular. We are fortunate to count him among our food truck friends.
Enough of that, I’m going to cry . . .
Ides of March March advice.
The following can be used as talismans during this period of foreboding.
Yacht Club Root Beer, Green Chile Cheeseburgers, Black-Bottom Cupcakes, and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Apple-Onion Chutney have all been documented as possessing evil-dampening properties. Tacos from Mijos Tacos are also very effective.
