Sweet local corn is finally here. Today we have a delicious Corn Salad made with sweet native corn from Ruwet Farm in Torrington. The kernels are cut from the cob and just warmed through with a drizzle of olive oil in a saute pan. The corn is then tossed with a simple vinaigrette, sea salt, scallions, parsley, and ripe tomato.
Tonight at the Marketplace in Torrington we are landing with our complete array of burgers . . . all made with naturally raised angus beef containing no hormones or antibiotics. The Slider, Double Trouble, Sputnik and the Green Chile Cheeseburger are all on the menu this evening.
Our famous Chicken and Beef Tacos will be there, freshly dressed with crisp cabbage, monterey jack cheese and ripe tomato and held in a warm, soft corn tortilla . . . douse with Dragon’s Blood Elixir hot sauces for a thrill.
The aforementioned Just-Picked Corn Salad and Gazpacho Andaluz are veggie options that satisfy deeply.
And don’t forget Mom’s Mac and Cheese. Made with sharp vermont cheddar, butter and organic milk . . . it is joy in a cup.
