The Almanack contained the calendar, weather, poems, sayings and astronomical and astrological information. It is best known as a repository of Franklin’s aphorisms and proverbs, many of which live on . . .

Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead.

God heals, and the doctor takes the fees.

A penny saved is a penny earned.

Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.

He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas.

He’s a fool who cannot conceal his wisdom.

A brilliant scientist, he invented the lightning rod, bifocals, the Franklin stove, a carriage odometer, and the glass ‘armonica’. He formed both the first public lending library in America and the first fire department in Pennsylvania.

As an ardent fan of burgers and grilled cheese he worked hard at devising ways of distributing them more efficiently. Here you see some of his work on the food truck concept.
